The acquisition and maintenance of out-of-state title insurance licenses can be a confusing and arduous task. However, with the advent of the internet and the centralization of lender processing, it has basically become a necessity to be licensed in as many states as possible. Having many state licenses increases your ability to capitalize on opportunities with regional or national lenders.

Of course, this is easier said than done. Fifty jurisdictions mean fifty different sets of rules, regulations, and requirements full of fine print and always subject to change. Most companies need to consult with a title insurance licensing expert who can strategically advise them on licensing.

If your company expanding its licensing footprint, you will need to develop your strategy carefully. You will need to know when renewals are due and maintain a system that tracks this information. You will also need to be kept up to date on rules regarding address changes, individual agent licensing requirements, and the many arbitrary rules that each state deploys. For example, did you know that if your home state is Utah, you cannot be licensed in Florida or Virginia? Rules like this demonstrate the need for developing a solid strategy concerning your licensing.

System 2 Thinking’s Licensing Offerings: A Detailed Overview & Process

Agency and Agent Initial License Applications

System 2 Thinking staff populates initial agency and individual agent title/escrow license applications with the client’s information. The client then reviews applications for accuracy of the information, executes them, and returns them to System 2 Thinking for submission to the appropriate licensing authorities for processing. System 2 Thinking staff follows up on applications’ status, troubleshoots problems, and sees the application process through to completion.

Agency and Agent Underwriter Appointments
Our title insurance licensing experts provide two distinct appointment services. The first is designed for underwriter clients. In this case, System 2 Thinking makes the actual agency and agent appointments for and on behalf of the client. We then follow through to ensure that all appointments have been made successfully with the appropriate regulatory authority. System 2 Thinking then confirms the appointment with the client.

The second appointment service is designed for agent clients who desire appointments with specific underwriters. System 2 Thinking coordinates this process on behalf of the agent-client and ensures that all appointment details are correct. However, the underwriter is responsible for the actual appointment process with the regulatory authority in this case.

Agency and Agent License Maintenance and Renewals
Our title insurance licensing experts prepare title agency and/or individual agent title/escrow license renewal applications based on the Client’s information.
